A Small (R)Edit

I did a thing today.

A subtle homage to my S2000; those in the know will know. I didn't quite get the angle right in the Porsche photo today, but you get the idea.

I still marvel at how low the hoodline is on the S2000; how the Honda engineers managed to tuck that double-wishbone setup in there and give the car it's wonderful 'rake'.

Side-by-side the two cars are strikingly similar in some ways, and truly different in others. Overall though, the Boxster is the more 'muscular' design - more beefy in the fender flares and rear haunches.

The front clip is altogether more aggressive, and unlike the S2000, the openings serve real purpose, channeling air into the three (three!) radiators.

It's cool to see the colors side by side. The S2000's 'New Formula Red' is much more 'Guardsy'. Would have been a highly satisfying choice for the the GTS Chronicles for sure. But the optioned-Porsche colour is so rich in person - a deeper, redder, red, without the orangey undertones whatsoever.

As 'marketing-speaky' as it is, I have to agree with Porsche's own description:
"Carmine Red is one of Porsche’s most striking and evocative paint colors. Bold and expressive, it’s a deep, rich red. Unlike brighter reds that lean toward orange or candy tones, Carmine Red has a slightly darker and more intense hue, often appearing deeper in low light and vividly saturated in sunlight.

Originally introduced in the 1980s, this color emphasizes the sculpted curves and aggressive lines of Porsche vehicles. Carmine Red is often chosen by enthusiasts who want a distinctive, passionate color that commands attention without being overly flashy.
Whether parked or in motion, Carmine Red underscores Porsche’s design philosophy: performance with unmistakable presence."
OK, it's a bit rich (haha see what I did there?). I'll just say it's gorgeous and so eye-catching.

I loved the red S2000 - heck I had two of them - but I'm in love all over again with the new car's paint. A great choice; one that required far less dithering about compared to the wheel selection process! More on that in a future post I am sure!

Red beauties indeed!
