Quiet Times

"If you can find a better-handling sports car, you should buy it. I'm not convinced you will."

Summer rolls on here, with a new toy in the barn (or rather, on the river) to help distract me from the long, drawn-out wait for an allocation.

The Internet is awash with GT4 RS videos, which of course I review, but they don’t hold the same allure for me as the frantic hunt for GTS 4.0 videos / comparos did. Having pretty much scoured the web for all things GTS-related, I now sit in a quiet holding pattern. Forum tidbits about minor changes to the configurator (loss of BOSE system for example) are about all that comes my way right now. It's to be expected - this generation of the 718 (GT4 RS notwithstanding) has been pretty well-sussed out online, and we are reaching the end of it's lifespan. 

To their credit, however, Porsche has not lifted off the throttle on development with the platform. There's a new Spyder in the works, with the same mid-mounted GT3 engine as the GT4 RS. It’s been spotted on the Nordschleife and I’m sure will soon be announced. Now, wouldn't it have been something to have been driving around the streets of Nurburg at the same time as that?! Could have happened were it not for this 'perfect storm' we are in. Ah well. Perhaps we will end up lapping with new GT3 RS's, as the announcement for that car is imminent.

Andrew and I continue with The GTS Chronicles, adding new Instagram posts here and there, and dropping reference to it occasionally in the forums. It's all we can do, really, as we patiently wait for Porsche to ramp up production and get the allocations flowing.

I find myself obsessing less these days, and the sailboat is proving to be a nice distraction. The Porsche project will happen (still very hopeful and optimistic), but there's little point in spending more time wondering, questioning, etc. Just let the summer days flow on and wish for strong, steady breezes.
