Long, Cold Winter
True to Canadian winter form, this one is long, cold and dark.
It's been all silent on the Porsche front all winter, giving me lots of time to mull over options and ideas. I'm thinking long and hard now about switching to a Boxster S. COVID is pushing the deliveries out, and the longer this goes, the more I move away from the two-car purchase idea towards a one car idea.

Originally, you see, I had been looking at the Boxster as my entry-level, gateway car into Porsche, with the idea that perhaps a few years down the road, I might upgrade. Take the bigger hit financially now, say, and then have an incremental cost (because these things seem to hold their value so well) later to move into a higher model.
Chatting with Andrew about it is useful, as we raise the question of, if one was just going to get one car, then maybe one should get the one you really really want for the long term. Bigger money, but cheaper in the long run vs. getting me a base and then later getting an S. Not to mention we don’t know how long the 718 run is gonna be. Rumours abound about the next generation being all-electric. Something that, while I'm sure will be awesome, doesn't stir my soul.
We've not heard a peep from The Salesguy as to when this all might realistically happen, and of course I can rationalize this until the cows come home, but it’s very good to discuss this with Andrew as it’s helpful to hear his perspective.
And then of course there's the discussions about GTSs as the true dream car, which is pretty intoxicating, but we are talking quite a bit more money.
